Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of photographer are you?

  • I am a lifestyle-based photographer. This means that my specialization is on “candid” moments, capturing and creating them. I will provide posing prompts in addition to capturing more traditional posed photos. For each session, I individually curate a collection of poses and include your “must-have” requests.

Do you specialize in certain types of photography sessions?

  • My specialty areas include couples, maternity, newborns, and families. I also offer weddings on a limited basis. Please inquire with any specific requests about session types!

What do newborn sessions entail?

  • Newborn sessions are similar to my lifestyle sessions in that there is no formalized posing of the child. I have limited options for props, outfits, and accessories that I will bring to the location. I do not use a backdrop. These are most often completed in your home, in the nursery, or outdoors.

Where will my session be held?

  • Anywhere you want! We will work together to determine a location that fits your vision (greenery, floral, small town, barn, downtown vibe, etc.). Please be advised, that some locations require a photography permit that you will be responsible for obtaining. If parking costs are incurred they are the client’s responsibility. I will primarily recommend locations that do not include price increases.

How long will my session be?

  • This is also up to you. We can decide on the right time for your needs upon booking. Longer sessions allow for things like outfit changes or visiting new locations. Shorter sessions are great if you know exactly what you want or have limited time.

  • If you have children or pets involved in your session, we work on borrowed time. My goal is to secure all of the important shots as soon as we can.

  • Mini sessions are my shortest option and are offered on a limited basis at a location close to Crystal Lake, IL.

What will my session be like?

  • All of my sessions start with a few minutes of expectation setting and time to get to know each other. I already know this might feel awkward and these few minutes make a difference. Feel free to bring music and props to your session to make things more fun! Once we get started, I will guide you through posing and provide plenty of props to make the experience an enjoyable one.

What should I wear?

  • Prior to your session, I can send you an outfit guide at your request. I am happy to chat about my tips and tricks for picking the best look and I can also chat specifics if you send me ideas or a picture of the outfits that you might be considering.

How far out are you booked?

  • I am currently booking 2024 portrait sessions and weddings. My 2023 books are closed.

Will I get the digital photos from my session?

  • You will receive all finalized images, 3-4 weeks after your session, through a private online gallery that is password protected. Within the gallery, you will have the option to download edited full-resolution and web-size images.

Do you deliver all of the photos we took?

  • No, I do not. I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions, and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. I only deliver the best images from our time together! For packages that include a select number of photos, I allow my clients to select their favorites prior to editing and delivering them.

How can I order prints and products from you?

  • I currently do NOT sell prints and products. You receive full printing rights on your images so you can order prints or products from anywhere you like. I can give suggestions based on previous client experiences.
